In recent years, Borsheim has focused on sustainability and invested around NOK 50 million in modern technology, including a customised robot in collaboration with Robot Norway. We've also installed 880 solar panels and a system for collecting rainwater, which is recycled and used in production.
Modernisation of the natural stone industry in Norway
Modern machinery, such as Steinex's fully automated production line, enables us to manufacture stone products with high precision and minimal environmental impact. The stone is sourced from local quarries and produced in our factory at Hellvik. This allows us to deliver short distances with the lowest possible environmental footprint, while the stone has a durable surface and does not contain quartz. By controlling the entire production process, from extraction to processing, we can ensure high quality.
Focus on sustainability
The Natural Stone Award is presented by the trade organisation Norwegian Rock Industry. The prize is usually awarded to companies that have distinguished themselves by promoting the use of Norwegian natural stone in a sustainable, innovative or aesthetically pleasing way. The jury emphasises the focus on sustainability, and Jarle's ability to combine innovation and a willingness to take risks with efficient production, as an important part of the justification for the award.
Inspiring the industry
Jury chairman Torger Lingelem said that Borsheim has worked diligently over the years in terms of technology and automation, and has established a pioneering company that is an inspiration to the entire natural stone industry. Which is of course very nice for us to hear. It's nice to be noticed in that way.
